Services

Residential Grass

A residential artificial grass installation in Miami is a drainage and sub-base project that happens to end with grass on top. The lawn is the last two days of the job; the base is everything else.

Pet Grass

A pet yard is a plumbing problem with grass on top. Two dogs in a Miami wet season produce far more urine than a thin base can carry away, and the smell people blame on the grass is ammonia from a base that holds water.

Playground Grass

A playground surface is specified by what happens when a child falls on it. The grass is the top layer of a safety system, and the layer under it, the shock pad, is the part a cheap quote leaves out.

Putting Greens

A putting green is the most precisely built surface in this trade. The ball tells the truth about the base, and a green laid over an uneven pad will not roll true no matter what the turf costs.

Commercial Grass

Commercial work is judged on documents as much as on the surface. A property manager needs a specification, a drainage plan, a wind detail and a warranty schedule that survives an insurance review, not a square-foot price.

Figures are the published bands from Miami and South Florida turf suppliers: 9 to 15 per square foot for a complete professional installation, with 11 to 15 the band most Miami-Dade jobs land in. Removing an existing lawn and hauling the debris adds 1 to 3 per square foot and excavation with a compacted crushed-rock base adds another 1 to 3. Material alone runs 2 to 5 per square foot for basic residential grass and 5 to 7 for premium pet-grade or high-face-weight grass. A typical 500-square-foot backyard lands between 4,500 and 7,500, and the itemised model computes 5,235.00 (10.47 per square foot) for a standard 500 sq ft system against 6,960.00 (13.92 per square foot) for an engineered pet-proof one. Aggregate is 42 and 52 per ton for the two base materials, and pet-spec labour is 11.50 per square foot against 8.50 standard.

What South Florida does to artificial grass

Miami is not a dry-climate grass market. It is a humid sub-tropical one where the damage comes from water, sun and salt. The wet season runs roughly May through October and delivers the afternoon thunderstorms that decide whether a base drains or ponds. The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, so edges, seams and perimeter anchoring carry a wind load that a landlocked lawn never sees (https://www.weather.gov/mfl/, HTTP 200). Ultraviolet load is year-round: on the EPA UV Index scale everything at 8 and above is very high to extreme, and Miami sits in that band for much of the year (https://www.epa.gov/sunsafety/uv-index-scale-0, HTTP 200). Salt air off Biscayne Bay reaches lawns several miles inland and attacks cheap backing and low-grade infill before the face fibres show wear. Under the grass, most of Miami-Dade is oolitic limestone under a shallow layer of sandy fill, so excavation is shallow and drainage has to be designed rather than assumed. In this market the three questions are drainage in a thunderstorm, anchoring for wind, and what salt and humidity do to the backing. Heat still matters, but it is a shaded-surface and infill choice, not the main event.
